Hilton's Jamaica Bay Inn | Los Angeles Hotel Photographer

The Jamaica Bay Inn is a hotel based in Marina del Rey and is a part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton. In 2023, I worked with the marketing manager of the hotel in order to produce photos and a short promo video for their website and social media pages.

The team reached out to me again 2024 for another video shoot featuring their restaurant and updated hotel rooms, which was featured as the banner video on the home page of their website.

PREPARING FOR THE HOTEL PHOTOSHOOT

Similar to all of my local hotel clients, I made sure to arrive at the hotel before the shoot to learn about the lighting and see whether or not I would need to bring my own equipment. The marketing manager walked me through the different spaces that the team needed photographed, including their outdoor patio space and restaurant.

PHOTOSHOOT DAY

This collaboration didn’t require working with a model and focused more on capturing certain rooms that the team needed for their digital marketing. I devised a shot list that I stuck to in order to make sure that I was able to cover as much ground as possible in order to get a variety of different shots.

For this photoshoot, I didn’t need to bring any additional lighting equipment so I was relying on natural light to properly illuminate each room and outdoor space.

The biggest challenge for this hotel photoshoot was trying to capture the images without too many of the guests being in the images. Because the photoshoot started early in the afternoon until sunset, I had to manuever my way around the hotel guests so that I didn’t disturb them, but to still get the photos that were needed.

This shoot called for a fair amount of improvising in order to get the final shots, but overall the client was happy with the results and invited me back next year for a video shoot.
