About The Client: DMN8 - Santa Monica

The DMN8 Gym in Santa Monica features a variety of amenities including indoor and outdoor classes, luxury wellness and shower suites, as well as monthly community events. Working as an interior photographer in this space, however, my goal was to capture the space of the indoor gym, highlighting some of the equipment and features that make the facility stand out. Some of these features include:

• Beautifully designed ceiling lights

• Gym equipment (including dumbbells and weights) by Rogue

• Plants and greenery across the gym facility

• Punching bag

Pre-Production: the Gym Photoshoot

Before the photoshoot, Emily provided me with the original designs for the gym so that I was able to get an idea of how to shoot the facility ahead of time. In order to capture as much of the space as possible, I decided that I wanted to make sure I was able to go as wide as 24mm for the focal length.

The gym itself was spacious enough that I wasn’t worried about not having enough room to capture a lot of the facility in one frame. But I also made sure to get some closer up shots, as well.

Photoshoot Day

This gym photoshoot was a fairly casual session where I showed up early in the morning and captured photos of the gym in natural light. I mainly had to be cautious that I wasn’t getting any of the actual gym members using the facility in the frame.

When on set, I try to capture different angles so that the client can get a variety of final images to choose from, rather than only getting 10 similar images at the same angle.

Focusing on the different amenities and features of the DMN8 gym, I was able to provide the client with a gallery of different images that have been featured on the website and social media pages of the gym.
