Props are an important part of a hotel photoshoot because it can add a bit of life to your hotel’s photo gallery. In a previous blog post, I’ve talked about how props can be a necessary tool for preparing for a hotel photoshoot.
In this blog, I want to go a bit more specific with some potential props to consider when you’re planning the photoshoot.
Hotel Prop 1: Books
You can feature books in a few different spots of your hotels (deluxe suite, event room, lobby, etc.) When adding books, you want to pay close attention to the color and title of the books so that it accurately reflects your property.
I’d recommend finding books that are fairly similar in size so it doesn’t throw off the composition of the photo regardless of the angle.
Hotel Prop 2: Potted Plants & Bouquets
Potted plants and bouquets are a great way to add color to your hotel. Depending on the size of the room and the size of the potted plants and bouquets, you can feature these kinds of props in almost any part of your hotel. From a hotel lobby to a deluxe suite or even a bathroom, some greenery can bring some life into your space.
Bouquets can also be a useful prop for your event space if you promote high-end corporate, business and social events.
Hotel Prop 3: Wine Glasses
Wine glasses are the perfect prop to use for your restaurant and event space. You can choose a variety of glasses depending on the kind of event you want to highlight in your space.
If you’re just shooting interior photography for your property, then you can keep the glass empty. But if you’re shooting lifestyle images and working with models, then think about the color of the drink that you’re using in the shoot.
Hotel Prop 4: Fruit Bowls
Fruit bowls can add a nice pop of color to a neutral-colored room. You want to be careful about choosing the right size of the bowl so that it doesn’t cover up too much of the fruit. You’ll also want to consider the texture/material of the table that you’re putting the bowl on.
A fruit bowl can be a nice addition to a dining space in a deluxe suite or in a conference and event room.
Hotel Prop 5: Paintings & Art Pieces
The fifth and final prop on the list is paintings and art pieces. Paintings can make a huge difference in setting the stage for each room. You’ll want to make sure that the painting featured in the photo matches the aesthetic of the room and the hotel as a whole.
For a deluxe suite at the Kins Hotel, simple and abstract art pieces hang on the wall above the couch. Even though the wall art is minimal, it adds a nice touch to the room and gives it a bit of life compared to an entirely blank white wall.
At the Lily Rose Event Room in Hilton’s Wayfarer DTLA Hotel, there are a variety of vintage and decorative art pieces posted along the brick wall, which creates the right ambience for the hotel.
