Kins Hotel | Los Angeles Hotel Advertising Photoshoot
About The Project
The team at the Kins Hotel reached out to me to update their website with professional hotel photography for their property. Their website featured renderings of their property and was looking to replace them with real photos showcasing the amenities and features that their guests would be able to expect.
For this photoshoot, there was no need to include on-camera talent. As a result, I worked only with the C-level executives of the hotel to produce interior, architectural, and product photos for this hotel.
Pre-Production Hotel Tour
Before officially starting any photoshoot, I’ll request local Los Angeles hotel clients a time to meet up at their property so I can review the space and determine what the best equipment will be necessary for the photoshoot. This step also benefits the clients because they can examine the space and determine what sort of props will be necessary for the photoshoot based on how I would try to photograph each room.
For this specific photoshoot, I knew I would need a wide angle lens in order to capture as many of the details in one image as I could. Because they provided renderings of what they wanted me to match, I was able to use it as a guide to prepare how I wanted to compose certain shots.
Once the tour was completed, I confirmed with the COO a shot list that would serve as a guide to follow during the day of the photoshoot. The team decided upon a request for professional photos for the following spaces:
Exterior Building & Outdoor Patio
Hotel Lobby, Hallways, and Bathrooms
Meeting & Event Room
Fitness Center
4 Guest Room Types (including ADA versions)
Rooftop Views
Hotel Photoshoot Production Day
The photoshoot started from early in the morning until late in the afternoon. I started with the exterior building shots early in the morning to avoid the distraction of cars driving through a busy main street. I later moved into the lobby to get some wide angle shots of the area and wanted to start with the location early to avoid disrupting guests checking in and out of the location.
Throughout the day, I moved from one room to the next while the Kins Hotel team would set up other rooms in advance. Having a prepared shot list and idea of what props would be featured in each location allowed the photoshoot to proceed efficiently without wasting any time.
Some of the most important details the team kept in mind were:
Ensuring the beds are as wrinkle-free as possible
Staging props and linens on the beds
Making sure each towels were properly folded and evenly spread out
Ensuring the floors were clean
