Kinshi Park is a peaceful park based in Sumida, Tokyo and resides among high-rise buildings. It was also one of the first locations that I visited during my trip to Tokyo in the spring of 2024. The park is most famous for its seasonal cherry blossoms, but is a travel gem that you might enjoy year-round.
CHERRY BLOSSOMS
During my time at Kinshi Park, I visited in late April when the cherry blossoms were already near the end of their peak (the cherry blossoms were gone near the end of my 7-day visit).
I was able to come across many trees that were still in blossom, but some of the petals were already swept away and off the branches. There were also paper lanterns streamed across some of the trees when I visited.
HAVE A SMALL PICNIC
I often went to Kinshi Park after getting some food in a nearby convenience store and had a small picnic in the morning before I went off to take photos in other parts of Tokyo.
Whether you want to sit on the bench or on the lush green grass, the park is big enough where you can find a spot to sit down and relax.
NEARBY BUILDINGS
The park is situated in Sumida, where you can see high-rise buildings and structures nearby (including the Tokyo Skytree Tower). You can also visit the park at night and catch a beautiful view of the Skytree glowing at night.
WHEN TO VISIT KINSHI PARK
Since I went to Tokyo during cherry blossom season, the park became pretty crowded after the early morning. My personal recommendation is to have the stop be early on your list if you plan on taking the day to explore around the city - at least if you plan on visiting during a busy season.
Final Thoughts
If you’re visiting Tokyo (and more specifically the Sumida area), then I recommend stopping at Kinshi Park for at least a quick moment to relax and maybe have a peaceful meal before you start your day.
The park is also conveniently located near the Kinshicho Station so you can have quick access to other wards of Tokyo like Shibuya fairly quickly.
Thanks for reading and until next time.
