Los Angeles Jewelry Outdoor Lifestyle Photography Collection

As an outdoor lifestyle photographer who regularly works with models, jewelry products are one of the most common accessories that I end up photographing. From earrings to rings to watches, jewelry pieces can play an important part of a model’s wardrobe, as well as the overall style of a photoshoot.

In a lifestyle setting, I’m not concerned with photography techniques like focus stacking as I would be if shooting jewelry in a studio. However, lifestyle photography presents its own challenges when taking photos of jewelry in natural light while acting as a creative director for models on set.

In this blog post, I’ll be covering some of my favorite images of models wearing different jewelry pieces.

 

 

 

Gold Earrings at the Beach

If I’m photographing a model wearing earrings and I want to showcase the design, then I’ll usually photograph the model closer up compared to a full-body shot. In this beach photoshoot with Erla Garcia, I captured portraits that showcases not only the model’s features, but also the gold earrings she is wearing.

Moreover, the beautiful natural light from the sun highlights the golden color of the earrings and produces a soft warm tone on the model’s skin. The beach can be a great outdoor location for capturing jewelry like earrings if you want to go for a soft and peaceful vibe for your brand.

 

 

 

 

 

Watches

I have written a few blog posts about watches and you’ll find plenty of images in my portfolio. To keep it brief, a watch can act as a great accessory to go with other jewelry pieces. As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, the style of your jewelry can greatly affect your wardrobe, and as a result, the style of your photoshoot.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rings and Bracelets

When it comes to jewelry accessories worn on the hands, you can be a lot more interactive with props to create more cinematic images. In this lifestyle photoshoot with Payton, I had the model simply pose while wearing his accessories - which worked well for the lifestyle portrait shoot we were aiming for.

Conversely, I did a lifestyle photoshoot with model Clifton Sneed along the Hollywood Mountains, where he wore bracelets and rings while also using props like a backpack and a water bottle. Simply holding these props can help drive a storyline for the photoshoot. As an adventure photographer, I like to incorporate travel products into the scene and make the outdoor photoshoot appear more dynamic.
