Beach Fragrance Photoshoot | Los Angeles Product Photography

Blue beach fragrance in the sand

Back in 2024, I explored both Santa Monica Beach and Venice Beach to capture product photos in a few different outdoor environments. Two of the products that I photographed were a blue beach fragrance and a clear fragrance bottle.

I had the fortunate opportunity to work with Los Angeles models DeAnza Banuelos and Jenna Zhu to capture lifestyle images of the beach fragrance photoshoot.

I wanted to keep the photos simple using only natural light in these outdoor beach environments. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing the selection of best photos featuring the fragrances.

Los Angeles Beach Locations

Both Santa Monica and Venice are amazing coastal cities in Los Angeles with beaches that make for a beautiful backdrop for a beach fragrance photoshoot. Because both locations can be very busy with tourists throughout the day, it’s usually best to shoot early in the morning or late in the evening away from the crowds for lifestyle photography.

Product Photos in Natural Light

One of the biggest challenges of working on location without any artificial light is trying to shoot reflective products with natural light only. In order to make some of the product photos look a bit more dynamic, I would try to utilize the different textures available at the beaches (like rocks, sand, and grass) and try to find creative ways to create contrast in the image.

Lifestyle Photos with Models

I worked with DeAnza for a lifestyle product photoshoot at Venice Beach during overcast weather. One of the products we worked with was the blue beach fragrance. Because the weather was overcast with a blank grey sky, I decided to use the rocks as a nice background just to add a bit of texture to the photo.

Jenna and I did the product photoshoot at Santa Monica Beach at sunset and used a clear fragrance bottle for the photoshoot. These photos were a bit more fashion-forward and editorial compared to the calm and relaxed vibe of DeAnza’s Venice Beach photoshoot.

Both DeAnza and Jenna did a great job capturing two different vibes of the beach fragrance photoshoot.
