Los Angeles has a variety of photo spots that can make for a great photoshoot. From beautiful beaches at sunset to urban landscapes in Downtown Los Angeles, you can find backdrops that will look perfect for a portrait or will make a great travel photo.
In this blog post, I’ll be sharing some of the best photo spots in Los Angeles with examples from photoshoots I have taken over the years.
Walt Disney Concert Hall
The Walt Disney Concert Hall is an architectural structure based in Downtown Los Angeles characterized with a steel exterior. The unique curves that make up the exterior, along with the steps leading up to the building, make this one of the best photo spots in Los Angeles.
Location: 111 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012
Griffith Observatory
The Griffith Observatory is an observatory on Mount Hollywood that features small telescopes, an upper terrace, and a beautiful view of the Los Angeles skyline.
Location: 2800 E Observatory Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90027
Mount Hollywood Trail
You can catch a view of the Hollywood Sign along the trail of Mount Hollywood near the Griffith Observatory. This is a beautiful spot to get a nice sunset outdoors with a view of the iconic sign.
Santa Monica Pier
The Santa Monica Pier is a popular tourist attraction in Los Angeles filled with arcade games, restaurants, and the popular Pacific Park Ferris Wheel. If you’re looking to take pictures without large crowds of people, then I recommend going early in the morning as this spot gets crowded from early afternoons until late at night during both the weekday and weekend.
Location: 200 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA 90401
Santa Monica Beach
The vast Santa Monica Beach covers the area around the Santa Monica Pier and is another one of the best photo spots in Los Angeles in my opinion. If you want to take photos without a lot of people, then I recommend moving farther along the pier where there will be less tourists.
You can also get some nice shots of the lifeguard towers that are spread across the beach.
Venice Beach
Venice Beach is another amazing location to take travel photos and portraits at. From the Venice Skatepark, to the Venice Beach Pier, to the Venice Canals, you can get a variety of backdrops all in one location.
El Matador State Beach
Based in Malibu, El Matador State Beach has been the most photogenic beach in Los Angeles that I have visited. It is very far away from the rest of the previously mentioned locations. Just as a heads up - if you are driving, parking can be pretty limited. You’ll also want to be careful of high-tide.
Location: 32350 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265
Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills
Another popular tourist attraction, Rodeo Drive is a boulevard that features a variety of different small stores of high-end fashion designers including Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and more. If you like fashion, then this is a great spot to explore and take some nice photos.
